Andy Gallagher

- Had a long career as a journalist and educator and is a regular attendee at Pamplin’s Civil War seminars each fall. 

- Born in Ireland, but raised in historic Civil War community of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, home of one of the old South’s most-famous summer watering holes, The Greenbrier Hotel. 

- Taught Civil War history and other subjects at West Virginia State University, and also taught at the private University of Charleston. 

- A public servant who writes Civil War history. His most recent book is about the Southern tragedy at the battle of Franklin, Tennessee, on November 30, 1864. This book, published in July 2025, is called Twilight of the Confederacy: The Battle of Franklin. It is available on Amazon and with other national publishers. 

- Gallagher lives in Charleston, West Virginia, with his lawyer wife, Deanna Stone, who also wrote the novel The Ghost Army, about the Battle of Stalingrad.
